Derived from a long series of
thorough and exhaustive tests to which the original Model 30 (1942 -
flew in the Us spring of 1943) was subjected, the Model 47 saw an
initial production run of 10 units (B47B) in 1946.
The B47B was awarded the world's
first commercial helicopter license and certificate by the United
States Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA).
It was the fore runner
of a long series which continued in production until 1972
incorporating numerous improvements and refinements learnt from tens
of thousands of hours of world wide operational use.
